BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – A judge sentenced Lindsay Lohan on Tuesday to 90 days in jail and an inpatient rehab program after finding the actress had violated the terms of her probation in a 2007 drug case.
The actress immediately burst into tears after the ruling.
Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel issued the sentence after listening to testimony from employees of an alcohol treatment program that Lohan had been ordered to attend.
Lohan missed seven classes since December, which led to the judge’s harsh rebuke of Lohan moments after the “Mean Girls” star offered a tearful apology.
“I did do everything I was told to do and did the best I could to balance jobs and showing up,” Lohan told the judge. “It wasn’t vacation, it wasn’t some sort of a joke.”
Revel said she found Lohan’s apology insincere, comparing it to “somebody who cheats and thinks it isn’t cheating if she doesn’t get caught.”
Lohan was not immediately taken into custody and will be permitted to surrender on July 20. She will have to wear an ankle alcohol monitor until then.
Los Angeles County district attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison said it was not uncommon for judges to allow defendants to turn themselves in at a later date so they can get their affairs in order.
The sentence tripled the monthlong jail sentence prosecutors had sought for Lohan.
It was unclear how much time Lohan will actually spend in jail. Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said female inmates convicted of nonviolent misdemeanors serve about a quarter of their sentence but that can be further reduced by state credits.
Whitmore said Lohan might be released on house arrest, but it would depend on the specifics of Revel’s order.

I have watched the interview of Kris Aquino to Shalani (Noynoy’s present gf) last Sunday at The Buzz. Shalani is a very honest and brave woman because she answered Kris’ questions straight to the point. She makes sure that Noynoy has the right choice of choosing her to be his gf. I hope Shalani can wait for Noynoy for 6 years. In fairness, she is beautiful inside and out. We will see!
The lawyer-friend of controversial television host Willie Revillame on Sunday said legal repercussions might probably be discussed in Monday’s meeting between the “Wowowee” host and ABS-CBN bosses.
Lawyer Dexter Licuanan explained in his interview on radio dzMM’s “Chismax” that since Revillame is asking the Kapamilya network to release him from his contract, both parties might discuss if this is “legally feasible.”
“Meron iyang legal repercussions kasi ang services ni Willie as talent ng ABS-CBN, covered ng isang kontrata yan. I can imagine ang pag-uusapan nila, halimbawa po as far as Willie is concerned, to express his desire to be released from the network and to be released as a talent,” he said.
“I’m sure din concern din naman ng ABS-CBN kung ‘yong kanyang request ay mapagbibigyan within the parameters of the contract,” he added. “Halimbawa pagbibigyan nila si Willie…. baka mag-impose din ang ABS ng mga condition sa kanya. Hindi malabong mangyari ‘yon.”
Licuanan surmised that both parties will probably look for “a legal remedy to solve their problems.”
Licuanan refused to give further comment on the legal aspect of the controversy, saying it is up to the TV host and the management of ABS-CBN to settle the issue and reach an agreement.
He added that at this point the controversy is still “very sensitive.”
Young actor Matt Evans has broken his silence over his private photos with a non-showbiz girl.
The photos show Evans’ intimate moments with a girl rumored to be his non-showbiz girlfriend.
In an interview with SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon, Evans admitted it is him in the photos.
However, he neither confirmed nor denied that the girl in the photos is his real life sweetheart.
“Sabi rumored girlfriend. Hindi ko alam sa kanila bakit nila inilabas,” Evans said.
Asked where the photos came from, Evans replied: “Kasi nawalan ako ng cellphone, nanakaw ang cellphone ko, baka ganoon na lang.”
Evans and the non-showbiz girl’s alleged romantic affair became an issue after their photos were uploaded on different social networking sites and blogs.
Reports said Matt’s rumored girlfriend is a college graduate and a part-time model.
Evans is currently part of the hit afternoon series “Tanging Yaman” with long-time on screen partner Melissa Ricks.
Reports also said that he is set to do another television series.
During his radio podcast Comedian Adam Carolla issued hateful comments about Manny Pacquiao and the Philippines. He went on to say “Because he’s from the Philippines and because he’s you know praying to chicken bones and stuff like that, everyone’s kinda like, ah you got to respect him for his belief system? No you don’t! He’s a fu**in idiot!” and even went on to add “They got this and sex tours, that’s all they have over there. Get your sh*t together Philippines!”
